ABOUT US

01

Having spent the past 10 years working on local vernacular and contemporary architecture the studio was founded in 2020, aiming to improve and de-carbonise our existing building stock across rural West Wales.

Having spent two years at the Welsh School of Architecture Specialising in both the conservation of historic and listed buildings across Wales and looking at the Welsh Governments 2050 decarbonisation of our existing housing we offer a fresh perspective on challenges that currently face our industry and way of life as we seek to act in response to climate change.

The practice brings new ideas to sustainable design and construction principles for future generations, using locally sourced materials, supporting local trades and reducing embodied carbon during construction.

OUR PRINCIPLES

02

To Enhance and Conserve our Built Environment - The positive conservation of our historic built environment, through retrofitting existing buildings, with positive sustainable adaptations that will see our national heritage retained throughout the 21st Century.

To Improve housing quality and standards - Both quality of space and energy efficiency, around 78% of housing across rural Wales do not meet basic EPC  ratings of C and above.

To decarbonise our construction Industry - The construction Industry contributes to around 40% of all carbon emissions with housing efficiency taking up 5% of the overall carbon Impact

To use Locally sustainable materials in construction - construction aims to use a minimum of 60% locally sourced materials on construction, reducing carbon emissions whilst supporting the local construction economy
